Supporting Two COVID-19 Clinical Studies in Sub-Saharan Africa

We were delighted to receive a $288,000 grant to support a clinical study in Sub-Saharan Africa in efforts to find a  treatment for Coronavirus. This was awarded from the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator, an initiative by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome and Mastercard.

Donation to support COVID-19 testing      in clinical laboratories

Almac Group, together with other companies in the BioPharmaChem Ireland network, provided financial support towards the cost of a key raw material in the manufacture of Lysis buffer a critical reagent required for Covid-19 testing. The buffer, will enable support of Covid-19 testing in clinical laboratories in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Supporting multiple programs to accelerate COVID-19 Coronavirus treatment

We are proud to be supporting 34 separate crucial research projects into Covid-19 treatment options for a variety of global pharmaceutical, biotech and research institutions.This is being provided by a range of services including analytical services, peptide development, expedited interactive response technology (IRT) support and clinical trial manufacturing, packaging and distribution on projects involving vaccines and potential treatments for symptoms of the coronavirus.

2018-19 Figures show Almac Group's Turnover Increased by £85M to £634M

Almac Group has reported an £85.4 million rise in turnover from £548.9 million to £634.3 million for its financial year 2018-19. During this period, the revenue increase resulted in improved pre-tax profits which were recorded at £47.6 million, up from £27.6 million for the same period the previous year. Higher exchange gains on financial activities in the year also contributed to this profit level improvement.

 Northern Ireland’s Pharmaceutical Industry will Maintain Regulatory Alignment with the EU Post-Brexit

Almac Group has welcomed confirmation from the EU’s medicines regulator, the EMA, that, post-Brexit, Northern Ireland will remain in regulatory alignment with the EU, acknowledging that EU laws, in respect of medicinal products, shall continue to apply  in Northern Ireland.This offers our clients unique, unfettered and flexible access to both the UK and European markets.

Supporting students using virtual Outreach

This week, over 150 post-primary students joined our webinar - "Life in the Pharmaceutical Industry: Which Course? What Career?"

Our panellists, Dr Frances Weldon, Gemma Logan, Dawn Thompson, Simon Taylor & Sinead O'Connor gave an overview of Almac’s activities and careers across the drug development lifecycle and facilitated a Q&A session about various roles and education pathways.
