How does your role challenge you?

The drive for continual improvement and provision of more services means that the rate of change is fast and the deadlines tight.

What qualities are required for your role – personal and professional?

One of the most important qualities is the ability to quickly form effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external staff and maintain them over long periods of time (regardless of how well the project is going!).  Depending on the project you could be working with analysts, developers, testers etc. on one project and at the same time Engineers, Contractors, Architects etc. on another with delivery times ranging from a couple of weeks to a year or more.

What type of other skills are required for your role.

The ability to tailor the content and type of communication for the target audience who could range from Production Operators, skilled trades etc. right up to Senior VP and MD level.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in Business Project Management?

Business Project Management in Almac covers a very wide range of changes that the business requires ranging from the management of staff relocations through design and installation of new production equipment or computerised systems, up to the management of the design, fit out and occupation of new build facilities.  With the rate of change there is always new opportunity round the corner.
